John Litton BAROÏ


Formation :

Started at the age of eight to study vocals with the Indian singer Bobech Chaterjee, while singing he also plays the traditionnal Indian harmonium

Activities :

Still in Bangladesh, he played with a lot of local musicians, he came to Europe in 1990, he first lived for some time in Germany before comming to Belgium, during this period he discovered the subtilities of modern Western music by working with jazz and fusion ensembles, by modernising it, he wants to promote the traditional Bengali folk music that more and more is getting lost in India and Bangladesh

A few names :

He has recorded a cd 'Probashi' under his own name, exclusively distributed in Bangladesh
He has toured intensively with the worldtechnoband Studio Pagol in Belgium and abroad, cd Studio Pagol - 'Serendipity' (Igloo)
He has also recorded his own compositions : cd 'Zala Zala' - John Litton Baroï and  Pierre Vervloesem (Carbon 7) and a second cd 'Amen' also with Pierre Vervloesem, ready for publication
He has formed a group with two membres of Himalaya : Pierre Narcisse on drums, Mark Bogaerts on guitar and Pieter Lenaerts on double bass, cd 'Holy Spirit Songs' to be released soon
At this moment he is again working on a new cd
